What is Jin Shin Jyutsu ?

According to ancient written records, which remain in the Archives of the Imperial Palace in Japan, Jin Shin Jyutsu was widely know before the birth of Buddha (India); before the birth of Moses (recorded in the Bible); and before Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things, Japan, A.D. 712). Jin Shin Jyutsu is an innate part of man’s wisdom.

Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body’s energies, which promotes optimal health and well-being and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, including relaxation and reducing the effects of stress.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six “safety energy locks” along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body, and spirit.

Learning Jin Shin Jyutsu engages one in self study and self help. Through the process of “now know myself” we recognize the wisdom of the body, and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance.

Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied as self-help and also by a trained practitioner. A Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts about an hour. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles, or use of drugs or substances. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks, to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulate through normal daily living.

For those of us addressing existing stress or health disharmonies, or for those simply wishing to participate actively in maintaining health, harmony and well-being, the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool, available to all.

The following testimonials show the benefits of this ancient art that facilitates the body’s own healing abilities:

  • A student with a sprained ankle tells that after her accident she had developed a habit of holding her wrist. That is actually the safety energy lock that helps the ankle.
  • When a baby sucks his thumb he is telling us what he needs: real flowing energy or digestive tract help. Thumb sucking helps the baby’s nervous and muscular systems. As adults, we can hold the thumb and get the same result.
  • A woman in a wheelchair also suffered from arthritis of her hands. After holding the fingers of each hand sequentially every night for a few days, she was able to knit once again – her favorite hobby.
  • A teenager working in a fast food restaurant burned his arm in a vat of hot oil. His mother placed and held her hands gently on his calves, the location specified in Jin Shin Jyutsu for helping skin ailments. The next morning, not only had all signs of the burn disappeared, but his complexion had cleared up as well!!

Jin Shin Jyutsu not only aids the body, it changes the attitudes that underlie the physical symptoms.

Jin Shin Jyutsu works for our animal companions: dogs, cats, birds, horses, etc.

  • My friend, Debbie’s story about her dog Eliza: My dog, Eliza, developed a tumor-like growth on her foreleg. Her vet was not overly concerned but said he would remove it surgically on her scheduled dental cleaning date (to avoid using anesthesia twice). The tumor grew over the next weeks but again the vet assured me it was nothing to worry about. I began using the prescribed Jin Shin Jyutsu technique daily and when it was time for the dental cleaning the vet was surprised to find that the growth was completely gone!
